Making Connections: How Hearth and Halo Runs Safe, Custom Power for Christmas Lights

Every strand we install is built using SPT-1 outdoor-rated Service Parallel Thermoplastic wire—the trusted standard for commercial lighting.

• Both SPT-1 and SPT-2 feature robust 18 AWG copper for safe current flow.
• SPT-1’s thinner but strong insulation allows tight, precise fitting around complex trim and gutter lines, minimizes visible wire, and enables smooth transitions (“jumps” between sections).
• Each wire is UL-rated for temporary outdoor usage with standing water and ice resistance.
• Our connections never exceed safe load ratings—SPT-1 supports up to 7 amps, which is more than enough for even large, multi-zone LED installs.

Instead of fragile push-in connectors, we use professional “vampire” (slide/prong) plugs at every power and end-point.
Here's how:

• Plugs are attached to custom-cut lines, piercing directly into the copper without stripping or soldering—safer, with no exposed wire.
• Compression caps create a tight, moisture-resistant seal, blocking ice melt, wind-driven rain, and rodents or insects.
• Male plugs always run toward the GFCI or power source, while female plugs finish every run—no open circuits, no risk.
• All open ends are sealed against snow and water with insulation tape or purpose-built end caps—expansion ports left only by design for future add-ons.
• Every connection meets UL 588 (Holiday & Seasonal Decorative Products) standards, essential for safe home and commercial installs.

Holiday lighting is only as safe as your power management.
Before plugging in, our certified techs:

• Assess total circuit load—calculating wattage for every circuit, run, and zone.
• Keep every install at least 20–30% under your breaker’s max—to prevent overload and circuit trips.
• Create clear power zones (roofline, landscape, trees, entry)—each with its own connection and timer, configured for dusk-to-dawn or programmable smart-home use.
• Use only GFCI-protected outdoor outlets, which immediately shut off power in case of short, surge, or moisture intrusion (per NEC (716) 671-7291.
• When zones need to share a breaker, we balance the load for safety and ease of control—NO blown fuses, NO frustration.

• Every strand is tailored to your home, not mass-marketed lengths with visible, wasted wire.
• We use techniques trusted by municipalities and commercial venues—not the corner hardware store.
• Our entire team and partners are trained in up-to-date safety, GFCI, and OSHA procedures, from the first socket to the last plug.
• Fast, transparent communication: your project manager gives you direct updates and honest answers—always.
• All repairs, upgrades, or weather breakage covered as part of your lease—no hidden charges, no stress.
